Sister taxa: none

Type specimen: LACM 2604, a partial skeleton (nearly complete skeleton and outlines of a portion of the feathering of one wing, represented by impression and parts of actual bone on two flagstone slabs). Its type locality is Tepusquet Creek, which is in a Miocene marine shale/limestone in the Monterey Formation of California.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Tepusquet Creek
