Sister taxa: Cheirogaster maurini, Taraschelon gigas
Type specimen: MNHN.F LIM 777, a partial skeleton (carapace and plastron). Its type locality is Bournoncle-Saint-Pierre, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in France.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore-herbivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Cheirogaster gigas in the database
