Sister taxon: Phonerpeton pricei
Type specimen: MCZ 1767, a skull. Its type locality is South of Fulda, 19 (Belle Plains), which is in an Artinskian terrestrial claystone/limestone in the Petrolia Formation of Texas.
Distribution: found only at South of Fulda, 19 (Belle Plains)
