Belongs to Caenolophus according to W. D. Matthew and W. Granger 1925
Sister taxa: Caenolophus magnus, Caenolophus obliquus, Caenolophus progressus, Caenolophus suprametalophus, Teilhardia pretiosa
Type specimen: AMNH 20297, a maxilla. Its type locality is Ula Usu, Shara Murum (AMNH), which is in an Eocene terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Shara Murum Formation of China.
