Sister taxa: Mioheteromys amplissimus, Mioheteromys arcarius
Type specimen: USNM 56737, a tooth (left p4). Its type locality is Observation Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in Nebraska.
Ecology: ground dwelling granivore-browser
Distribution: found only at Observation Quarry
