Sister taxa: Acaremys major, Acaremys messor, Acaremys minutissimus, Acaremys murinus, Acaremys scagliai, Acaremys tricarinatus

Type specimen: MACN PV 11246, a maxilla (right maxillary fragment with DP4-M2). Its type locality is Southern Cliff of lower Chubut River Valley, near Gaiman, which is in a Colhuehuapian paralic mudstone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of Argentina (2 collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
