Sister taxa: Becklesius cataphractus, Becklesius hoffstetteri
Type specimen: PSMUBB V 361, a mandible (fragment of dentary with four complete teeth and two empty loci). Its type locality is Pui Islaz (microvertebrates), which is in a Maastrichtian dry floodplain mudstone in the Sînpetru Formation of Romania.
