Sister taxa: Cynarctoides acridens, Cynarctoides emryi, Cynarctoides gawnae, Cynarctoides harlowi, Cynarctoides lemur, Cynarctoides luskensis, Cynarctoides roii

Type specimen: OCPC 21796, a mandible (right horizontal ramal fragment with c–m1). Its type locality is Cooper Center 02019, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial sandstone in the Sespe Formation of California.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore-omnivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (2: California, Texas collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
