Sister taxa: Caenolophus magnus, Caenolophus obliquus, Caenolophus progressus, Caenolophus promissus, Caenolophus suprametalophus
Type specimen: AMNH 20299, a mandible (right lower jaw with p2-m3). Its type locality is Aliusu, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Irdin Manha Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling browser
Distribution: found only at Aliusu
