Sister taxa: Iguanodon anglicus, Iguanodon bernissartensis, Iguanodon major, Struthopus schaumburgensis

Type specimen: MAP-4787, a partial skeleton (premaxilla, dentary, postorbital, quadrate, maxillary teeth, atlas arch and cervical remains, a sacral vertebra, ribs, coracoid, scapula, part of both pubis, pa). Its type locality is San Cristóbal 1, Galve (SC-1), which is in a Barremian fluvial claystone in the Camarillas Formation of Spain.
