Sister taxa: Phoberogale bonali, Phoberogale depereti, Phoberogale gracile, Phoberogale minor

Type specimen: OCPC 21794 and 21795, a partial skeleton (rostral part of skull missing tip of inion and much of basicranial region, but with complete upper dentition except right P1, and nearly complete left dentary w). Its type locality is Cooper Center 02039, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial sandstone in the Sespe Formation of California.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Cooper Center 02039
