Sister taxa: Coryphaenoides biobtusus, Coryphaenoides contortus, Coryphaenoides guentheri, Coryphaenoides maximus, Coryphaenoides rupestris

Type specimen: MGUH 26146, an otolith. Its type locality is Sundkrogen [Lellinge Greensand], which is in a Selandian marine sandstone in the Lellinge Greensand Formation of Denmark.

Ecology: nektonic carnivore
