Type specimen: LACM 55237, a partial skull (crushed skull (fig. 24A–C) with I1–M2 and both ramal fragments including p3–p4 broken, m1 in- complete alveolus, isolated m2 trigonid (fig. 24D), and a broken i). Its type locality is Red Rock Canyon, which is in a Clarendonian terrestrial horizon in the Dove Spring Formation of California.

• Hemphillian of United States (1: California collection)
• Miocene of United States (4: Arizona, California)
