Type specimen: UCMP 9124, a partial skeleton (preorbital part of skull (lacking most of premaxilla); dorsal skull roof (including frontal, postorbitofrontal, and part of parietal and supratemporal); posteri). Its type locality is Smith Cove (UCMP 1012), which is in a Carnian marine horizon in the Hosselkus Formation of California.
