Type specimen: UCMP 40199, a partial skeleton (a partial cranium with left I1-2, P2-4, M1-3 and right P3-4, M1-3). Its type locality is UCMP Locality V5043, La Venta Faun, which is in a Laventan terrestrial sandstone in the Villavieja Formation of Colombia.

Ecology: ground dwelling grazer
