Sister taxa: Archaeohyrax patagonicus, Archaeohyrax proavus

Type specimen: SAL 4, a partial skull (skull and mandible of a young adult, with right I1, I3-M2, left dI1-2, I3, P1-M3, right p1-m2 (m3 is covered with matrix), left p2-m3 ). Its type locality is Salla, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial horizon in the Salla Formation of Bolivia.

Ecology: scansorial herbivore

Distribution:

• Deseadan of Argentina (3 collections), Bolivia (3)

Total: 6 collections each including a single occurrence
