Sister taxa: Choneziphius chonops, Choneziphius liops, Choneziphius macrops, Choneziphius planirostris, Choneziphius trachops

Type specimen: SGHN MA0633, a partial skull (rostrum, facial area and vertex). Its type locality is Selva fishing ground, which is in a Messinian/Zanclean offshore shelf phosphorite in Spain.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Selva fishing ground
