Sister taxa: Eocaiman cavernensis, Eocaiman palaeocenicus, Notocaiman stromeri

Type specimen: MCT 1791-R, a mandible (Left anterior dentary fragment). Its type locality is São José de Itaborai, which is in an Eocene fissure fill marl in the Itaboraí Formation of Brazil.

Ecology: carnivore

Distribution: found only at São José de Itaborai
