Sister taxon: Cionichthys greeni

Type specimen: AMNH 5615, a skeleton. Its type locality is Big Indian Wash fish locality, which is in a Norian/Rhaetian fluvial-lacustrine sandstone in the Chinle Formation of Utah.

Ecology: nektonic carnivore

Distribution:

• Triassic of United States (5: Colorado, Utah collections)
