Sister taxon: Amyda cartilaginea

Type specimen: AMNH 5923, a partial skeleton (the carapace (fragmentary but representing well the structure), the hyoplastra and hypoplastra of both sides somewhat damaged, one cervical vertebra, portions o). Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Grizzly Buttes
