Type specimen: IRSNB Ct. R. 16 (also numbered 1543) [lectotype], a shell (a complete but flattened carapace and plastron). Its type locality is Sainte-Barbe coal mine, Bernissart, which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine - small claystone/bituminous coal in the Sainte-Barbe Clays Formation of Belgium.
