Type specimen: CM 4026, a skeleton (partial skeleton including skull and parts of the postcranium preserved in dorsal view). Its type locality is Wintershof Quarry, Eichstätt, Solnhofen, which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.
