Sister taxa: Megapaloelodus connectens, Megapaloelodus peiranoi

Type specimen: UOMNH F-5459, a limb element (proximal end of left tarsometatarsus). Its type locality is Black Butte (UO 2334), which is in a Clarendonian terrestrial horizon in the Juntura Formation of Oregon.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of Mexico (2 collections), United States (1: Oregon)
