Sister taxon: Centrolepis aspera
Type specimen: BMNH P582/3510, a skeleton. Its type locality is Lyme Regis, beach under Black Ven , which is in a Sinemurian marine horizon in the Charmouth Mudstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
