Sister taxa: Hydrochus elongatus, Hydrochus relictus
Type specimen: Hinde 14504, an elytra (fragmentary elytron). Its type locality is Lake Erie near Cleveland, which is in a Pleistocene lacustrine deltaic siltstone in Ohio.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Lake Erie near Cleveland
