Sister taxa: Deinosuchus hatcheri, Deinosuchus schwimmeri, Pliogonodon priscus, Phobosuchus riograndensis

Type specimen: AMNH 3073, a partial skeleton (Partial premaxillae, maxillae, mandibles, dorsal vertebra, scapula, partial ilium, scutes). Its type locality is East of Fresno Creek, which is in a Campanian/Campanian floodplain claystone in the Aguja Formation of Texas.

Ecology: carnivore
