Type specimens:

  • Navajosuchus mooki: Amer. Mus. No. 6780, a partial skeleton (skull, jaws, and most of skeleton). Its type locality is De-na-zin Wash (AMNH), which is in a Puercan terrestrial horizon in the Nacimiento Formation of New Mexico.
  • Navajosuchus novomexicanus: Amer. Mus. No. 5186, a skull (well preserved skull). Its type locality is Little Pocket, which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial horizon in the Nacimiento Formation of New Mexico.
