Sister taxon: Floridameryx klausi
Type specimen: UF 13832, a mandible (male left ramus). Its type locality is Withlacoochee River Site 4A, which is in a Hemphillian pond claystone in Florida.
Ecology: ground dwelling grazer-browser
Distribution:
• Hemphillian of United States (5: Florida collections)
• Miocene of United States (1: Florida)
Total: 6 collections each including a single occurrence
