Sister taxon: Desmatochelys padillai

Type specimen: KUVP 1200, a partial skeleton (Skull, some limb bones and parts of the shell). Its type locality is near Fairbury (Desmatochelys type locality), which is in a Cretaceous marine horizon in the Benton Formation of Nebraska.
