Sister taxon: Hoplochelys crassa

Type specimen: PTRM 16173, a partial shell (nearly complete shell lacking anterior portions of the nuchal and much of the pygal regions). Its type locality is PTRM V95018 (Silty Mudstone), which is in a Maastrichtian floodplain mudstone in the Hell Creek Formation of North Dakota.

Ecology: aquatic durophage-piscivore

Distribution: found only at PTRM V95018 (Silty Mudstone)
