Type specimen: MT 2, a partial skeleton ("poorly preserved, associated anterior portion of skull, dissociated limb bones and nearly complete vertebral column"). Its type locality is MDM Quarry 18, North Cox pit, which is in a Campanian offshore shale in the Pierre Shale Formation of Canada.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at MDM Quarry 18, North Cox pit
