Type specimen: MH1, a partial skeleton (juvenile partial cranium, fragmented mandible, and partial postcranial skeleton). Its type locality is Malapa Cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in South Africa.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution: found only at Malapa Cave
