Sister taxa: Urenchelys anglicus, Urenchelys avus
Type specimen: KUVP 47241, a skeleton (part and counterpart of skeleton lacking caudal fin and some vertebrae). Its type locality is Hell's Bar, which is in a Santonian marine horizon in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.
Ecology: nektobenthic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Hell's Bar
