Sister taxon: Coahomasuchus chathamensis

Type specimen: NMMNH P-18496, a skeleton (Nearly complete skeleton). Its type locality is NMMNH locality 3357, which is in a Carnian/Norian terrestrial horizon in the Colorado City Formation of Texas.
