Sister taxon: Jamilcotatus kumiaica
Type specimen: no number listed, a partial skull (partial braincase and two vertebrae). Its type locality is Santa Cruz Island, Monterey Formation, which is in a Serravallian marine shale in the Monterey Formation of California.
Ecology: amphibious herbivore
Distribution: found only at Santa Cruz Island, Monterey Formation
