Sister taxon: Belantsea occidentalis
Type specimen: MV 7698, a skeleton (complete fish). Its type locality is MV 7106, Supercrop Quarry, Bear Gulch, which is in an Arnsbergian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Heath Formation of Montana.
Ecology: nektonic carnivore
Distribution:
• Carboniferous of United States (2: Montana collections)
Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
