Sister taxa: Notoemys laticentralis, Notoemys tlaxiacoensis, Notoemys zapatocaensis

Type specimen: MNHNCu-P 3209, a shell. Its type locality is Vinales Valley, which is in an Oxfordian/Oxfordian platform/shelf-margin reef shale/lime mudstone in the Jagua Formation of Cuba.

Distribution: found only at Vinales Valley
