Sister taxa: Bothremys arabicus, Bothremys cooki, Bothremys maghrebiana

Type specimen: AMNH 30553, a skull (nearly complete skull). Its type locality is Ouled Abdoun Basin (lowermost bed 1), which is in a Selandian marine phosphorite in Morocco.

Ecology: amphibious omnivore

Distribution: found only at Ouled Abdoun Basin (lowermost bed 1)
