Sister taxa: Collatipora delicata, Collatipora pyriformis
Type specimen: AMNH 28094. Its type locality is AMNH389, Bell Canyon, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Capitanian slope limestone in the Bell Canyon Formation of Texas.
