Sister taxon: Aerosaurus greenleeorum
Type specimen: UCMP 40096, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is UCMP V-2814, which is in a Virgilian/Wolfcamp terrestrial siltstone in the Abo/Cutler Formation of New Mexico.

Distribution: found only at UCMP V-2814
