Type specimen: USNM 100140, a set of vertebrae (thoracic, lumbar and caudal vertebrae). Its type locality is Garet el-Esh, which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Qasr el-Sagha Formation of Egypt.
