Type specimen: MAUL 230/1, a mandible (left dentary lacking condyle and angular process). Its type locality is Cisterna Quarry, which is in a Tortonian transition zone/lower shoreface lime mudstone in the Pietra Leccese Formation of Italy.

Distribution: found only at Cisterna Quarry
