Type specimens:

  • Thalassomedon hanningtoni: DMNH 1588, a skeleton. Its type locality is Thalassomedon type, Pritchett (DMNH), which is in a Cenomanian marine shale/claystone in the Graneros Shale Formation of Colorado.
  • Alzadasaurus riggsi: FMNH 12009, a set of postcrania (sixty vertebrae, both scapulae and both coracoids, the left paddle almost entire, the left pubis, and both ischia and ilia). Its type locality is Alzada, which is in a Cenomanian marine horizon in the Belle Fourche Formation of Montana.

Distribution:

• Cretaceous of United States (2: Colorado, Montana collections)
