Sister taxa: Leptalestes krejcii, Leptalestes prokrejcii, Leptalestes toevsi

Type specimen: UCMP 47738, a maxilla (right fragmentary maxilla with P3 and M1-3). Its type locality is Bushy Tailed Blowout, which is in a Lancian terrestrial shale in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: scansorial omnivore

Distribution:

• Paleocene of United States (1: Montana collection)

• Cretaceous of Canada (1: Alberta), United States (20: Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wyoming)

Total: 22 collections each including a single occurrence
