Belongs to Macrotarsius according to K. C. Beard et al. 1994
Sister taxa: Macrotarsius jepseni, Macrotarsius montanus, Macrotarsius roederi, Macrotarsius siegerti
Type specimen: IVPP V11025, a tooth (right [lower] P4). Its type locality is Shanghuang Quarry, fissure D, which is in an Eocene fissure fill limestone in China.
Ecology: arboreal insectivore
Distribution: found only at Shanghuang Quarry, fissure D
