• "in the B horizon of the Bridger formation"

Environment/lithology: pond; lithified, volcaniclastic, argillaceous tuff

• "pond deposit" according to Roberts 1962
• a solid block consisting of "a matrix of greenish gray tuff" that "consists largely of volcanic debris and clay pellts... It may be that this rock represents an ash fall on a muddy basin or flood plain where clay pellets existed prior to an ash shower"

Part of this material has been previously assigned to E. wyomingensis. Referred material. Four almost complete shells, USNM V 16766, 16770, 16778 and 16779. USNM V 16766 and 16770 were originally in the slab, whereas USNM V 16778 and 16779 were found in the vicinity of the slab.
