• Li et al. 2012: U-Pb ages of detrital zircons suggest the youngest deposition ages of the Quantou formation is ~103 Ma.

Environment/lithology: fluvial-lacustrine; pebbly, gray, green, sandy, cherty/siliceous mudstone and brown, white sandstone

• "mainly red, but ranging to gray or green mudstones, interlayed with white to tan or brown sandstones...The fossilferous stratum is 0.10 to 0.30 meters thick and is a gray to green mudstone with coarser fractions ranging up to granules or small pebbles. The larger clasts are rounded to subrounded and mostly silicic, but a few clasts may be orthoclase or other minerals."
