Takaradayskaya Suite - Takaraday Railway station, Kholmsk District, Sakhalin (Eocene of Russian Federation)

Where: Russian Federation (47.0° N, 142.1° E: paleocoordinates 50.7° N, 134.7° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Takaradayskaya Formation, Early/Lower Eocene (55.8 - 48.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Also known as Nishisakutan Fm, Maoka Series. From Takaradayskaya suite of the upper part of the "Shebunin and Kraspnopoliev" horizons, which are overlain by the Late Eocene Lesogor "horizon". THICKNESS: Total thickness of unit is 1000 m. AGE: Eocene, though apparently lower part of Eocene, on the basis of assignment to the "Shebunin and Kraspnopoliev" horizons. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Composite checklist for formation in this area.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified siltstone and lithified, argillaceous sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Not stated in text; assumed to be cool-water relatively shallow-water coastal setting on the basis of faunal composition.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Siltstones and argillites, sometimes clayey sandstones. LITHIFICATION: Unknown lithification, presumed lithified given age and facies.

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: COLLECTOR: Unknown, presumably Uwatoko (c. 1937) or Smekhov (c. 1948). REPOSITORY: Unknown repository.
