Where: Coahuila, Mexico (26.3° N, 102.9° W: paleocoordinates 1.6° S, 34.6° W)

When: La Difunta Formation, Capitanian (264.3 - 259.5 Ma)

• Upper Guadalupe (Capitan-Bell Canyon-Altuda). Approximately equivalent to the Pichaguilla limestone.

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, black shale

• Black shale containing some ammonoids, though less abundantly than bed 5; in southern part of area containing lenticular limestone masses which consolidate south of Cerro Pichaguilla into a continuous limestone layer (from section description, p. 13). Black concretionary shale, with persistent limestone layers in lower part in southern portion of area. Beds 4 to 7 (From a general stratigraphy table, Fig. 3, p. 19).
