•late Bathonian based on the pollen assemblage (Alekseev et al. 2001).

Environment/lithology: karst; black, gray, green claystone and yellow, silty sandstone

• continental sediments infilling karstic topography, hollowed into underlying Middle Carboniferous limestone
• two members: "The dark gray, black, or green member consists of clays and clayey siltstones with lenses of clayey gravel. The yellowish member consists of wavy- or cross-bedded sands with silty interbeds...The productive layer is composed of dark clay."
